I would break down creating Silly Goose Tarot into 3 distinct phases. Each phase is extremely important. They come with learning a ton of new skills and overcoming new challenges.
🎨 Phase 1: Drawing & Creating
The most important and magical step. Being able to get into creative flow and bring sparks of inspiration into reality. There’s nothing else quite like it. While you’re in the process, it can feel like an endless slog. But looking back, I really miss the structure and groove I was in. I drew 3 cards and made 1 YouTube video a week. I love looking back at older videos, I’m really glad I recorded the process. I am so thankful for all the work I did last year. The process can be so slow but then, all of the sudden, you’re finished and everything changes all at once.
🐣 Phase 2: Marketing & Crowdfunding
The most terrifying step. This is when your project is no longer just your baby. You need to put it out in the world and find the people who love it just as much as you do. This stage is the most out of your control, putting your project into other peoples hands is nerve wracking but also endlessly rewarding. I feel extremely blessed that my first Kickstarter project was a success. I owe it all to the effort I put into Phase 1 and the generosity of those who support me.
📦 Phase 3: Production & Fulfillment
I don’t think it’s quite hit me yet! Somehow, 304 people from all over the world found my silly little project and wanted to support it into reality. This process has been life changing in ways that I can only begin to express.
I’ve spent the last 2 weeks pouring over spreadsheets, planning, checking and double checking to make sure everything is accounted for so that this next phase of the journey goes smoothly. Somehow, even though there have been a few hiccups along the way, I managed to be under budget (so far lol).
Everything is going into production and in a few weeks, it will all be real. A finished and tangible product that I made with my own hands from my own brain. If that’s not magic, I don’t know what is.
But it’s not over yet!
🖌 The Next Steps
I have some paintings & drawings left to do. I need to paint 7 mini paintings and doodle 53 Silly Goose buttons for my Kickstarter Backers! I’ve really missed Phase 1, so this really is perfect timing. This week I will be focusing on making art & filming the process.
